Enuf Burger!
Enuf Burger has been a rather recent addition to the Burger Quest hit list, but after a friend of mine told me a few weeks ago that she and her boyfriend literally drive 45 minutes across town for no other reason than to have a burger here, how could we possibly ignore that kind of dedication?? We added it very quickly to our list of places to visit, and tonight was the night.
Our first impressions of the place were that it was nice and clean, the menu had plenty of options which would satisfy anybody's palette or dietary needs, and there was plenty of room for us to sit and chat. Mind you, the air conditioner was turned down FAR too cold and we were literally shivering despite our jackets.
However, we were still suitably happy to be there. Chicken likes the little pots of greenery on the tables (I tried to get a photo but it turned out all horrible and blurry, sorry guys) and the staff were pretty friendly.
What struck us upon ordering, and a first for our little Quest, was a full selection of buns that you can CHOOSE FROM to have with your burger!! THIS IS REVOLUTIONISING BURGERING, PEOPLE!!!! (It must be said though, that one particular staff member was wearing shorts so tiny that her butt cheeks were literally hanging out the sides. I know that we were excited about the warm, soft buns on display but those particular warm, soft buns are probably best kept hidden. Sorry love.)
So we order. Chicken goes for the Just eNuf (basically a mini cheeseburger) on wholemeal, Hungry Hungry Hippo and I both order the Big eNuf on brioche - mine without onion (of course) and his with added bacon. We get fries, we each order a sauce to have with our fries (at $1 each little tub of sauce we gave each other a sideways glance, but swallowed our pride and moved on) and sat down, eagerly awaiting our meals.
The chips came out first with the sauces - hollandaise and jalapeno aioli. Nothing special here, they were your standard fries, and the sauces were alright. The hollandaise was super thick, but Hungry Hungry Hippo seemed to enjoy it, so that's always a good thing.
The burgers came out and the first thing anyone noticed was that they got Chicken's order wrong!! Oops!! She ended up with a Big eNuf instead of the small version, but oh well. The error was in her favour, so she got over it and we all tucked in.
My first impression was that my bun had little burnt bits around the edges. This made me SO HAPPY!! I am not scared of a bit of charring, and as I'm sure you all know by now, I LOVE a toasted bun. Better to err on the side of too much toastiness than not enough in my book!! Chicken said hers looked wholesome, she loved the brownness of the bun, it felt warm to the touch and it was sufficiently tall. Hungry Hungry Hippo said he liked the serving size, and said it was very well presented. The burgers were served on wooden boards with a little wooden knife stabbed into the centre of it. The presentation WAS cute.
First bite was tasty and had everything it needed. My only complaint at first bite is that the "pickles" are actually gherkins (the very sweet kind. Call me fussy, but there IS a difference, and both were mentioned at different places on the menu, so they should have used the right ones in the right places) and the sweetness didn't really bring much to the burger unfortunately. After our first bite we ALL wanted more ketchup though, and considering we then had to go and pay another extra dollar for this... maybe we just sound stingy, but for goodness sake, it's ketchup out of a fifty litre drum - do you REALLY need to charge a dollar for a tiny little tub?? Nordburger have giant squeezy bottles of the stuff on every table!!

Bun 8/10
Chicken thought the bun was a good size to encompass everything, and although it was quite tall, it squashed sufficiently to fit in her mouth. The wholemeal roll was soft enough to be a burger bun and it was very warm, but it could have been toastier.
Hungry Hungry Hippo LOVES that we can choose our own bun (I couldn't agree more) and said that the only problem was deciding on which one to choose. He comments that the brioche is a good, honest burger bun.
I loved the glaze, the little spattering of sesame seeds (although you know me and I could've had hundreds more) and it was delightfully sweet and rich, which is just how I like it. My only real complaint was that it had gone quite soggy towards the end, but that's about it.
Patty 6/10
Nothing too exciting to report here. Hungry Hungry Hippo says it's just above standard, nothing noteworthy. I agree with him, it's nothing special, but nothing too negative to point out either. Chicken says that hers was brilliant taste-wise, but that the texture of it was too soft and it fell apart.
Value 7/10
Chicken noted that hers was excellent value for the price, but this was partly due to the fact that she'd paid for a smaller burger and mistakenly got the next size up. "They use South Aussie stuff - that's good quality $#!t!"
Hungry Hungry Hippo noted that at $15 per person for everything we had, he couldn't complain.
I thought it was PRETTY good, but it lost a point due to the fact that the ketchup cost us extra. I just don't agree with charging a dollar for about 50 ml of stuff that really would cost them nothing.
Balance & Composition 8/10
This is where this burger really stands up. It was a really well put together burger, with the biggest complaint from any of us being that it just needed more sauce. I loved the whole egg mayonnaise (even though on the menu it was listed as aioli - people need to stop calling mayo aioli. Whole egg mayo is awesome, acknowledge it!!) and even though I would have loved it more had there been pickles instead of gherkins, I still respect that they're there.
Chicken says the balance & composition was very good. Lots of gherkins, cheese is melted, but it did need extra sauce - not because it was dry, but just because it was missing. She's happy that there was no Coles mesclun mix, but a few proper leaves of proper cos lettuce.
Hungry Hungry Hippo says there's nothing to fault other than the fact that it was lacking sauce. We all questioned whether the sauce had been just soaked into the bottom bun.
Flavour 7/10
Hungry Hungry Hippo hit the nail on the head here by pointing out that the flavour of this burger was good but there was nothing wow about it. Nothing stood out either way as being exceptionally good or bad. We definitely all would have preferred a proper pickle over gherkin.
Chicken noted that while she could SEE the "our own tomato sauce" she could not taste it at all. I question whether that was actually just the same ketchup that we then had to later add anyway.
Overall 7.2/10
It was a well put together and decent burger. Nothing stand out, but quite consistently good across the board!! Chicken would come back. I would if I was down that side of town too :)
